Texas Chimney Experts

Meet Our Technician Team

Below is an honest description of our technician team — by role, with the actual years of experience, certifications, and specialty areas each role on our team holds. We publish role profiles rather than named bios because team members change over time and we want this page to remain accurate; the standard described here is the standard you can expect from anyone Texas Chimney Experts sends to your home.

How We Hire and Train

The chimney-and-fireplace trade has no shortcut for experience. We hire selectively — most of our senior technicians came up through the trade with formal CSIA, NFI, or F.I.R.E. training before they ever joined us — and we invest heavily in ongoing education. Every new hire spends a minimum of 90 days riding along with a senior technician before being scheduled solo, regardless of how much prior experience they bring. Every senior technician attends the ncsg-fire-certifications-difference/" class="auto-entity-link" data-term="National Chimney Sweep Guild">National Chimney Sweep Guild annual conference and renews CSIA, NFI, and F.I.R.E. credentials on the required schedule. We do not allow technicians to perform work outside the credential they hold; if your job needs a gas specialist and the closest available technician is a sweep, we wait and send the specialist.

Senior Roles on Our Team

Senior Master Mason

Experience: 22 years  |  Specialty: Full chimney rebuilds, crown reconstruction, historic masonry restoration  |  Credentials: CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, NCSG Master Technician, Texas TDLR-aligned for combustion components

Our Senior Master Mason leads every full-tear-down rebuild and historic restoration we accept. Twenty-two years of field experience with brick, stone, stucco, and mixed-material chimneys across North Texas and the broader Southwest. Specializes in spalling repair, crown rebuilds with proper sloped pitch and overhang, and chase-cover replacement on factory-built chases. If a rebuild ticket lands on our schedule, this is the person on site directing the crew, sourcing brick that matches the home’s aesthetic, and signing off on every mortar joint before the scaffold comes down.

CSIA Sweep Lead

Experience: 14 years  |  Specialty: Level I and Level II inspections, third-stage creosote removal, draft diagnostics  |  Credentials: CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, NCSG member, OSHA-30

Our CSIA Sweep Lead runs the day-to-day inspection and sweep schedule. Fourteen years of focused chimney work means thousands of completed inspections across factory-built, masonry, prefabricated metal, and converted-fuel systems. Specializes in third-stage glazed creosote — the dangerous, hardened variety that most generalist companies decline to address. Trained extensively in NFPA 211 inspection levels and certified to perform Level II video-scan inspections for real-estate transactions and post-event evaluations after lightning strikes or chimney fires.

Gas Conversion Specialist

Experience: 11 years  |  Specialty: Gas-log installation, fireplace gas conversion, gas-insert replacement, combustion analysis  |  Credentials: NFI Gas Specialist, Texas TDLR gas-appliance experience, F.I.R.E. Service Technician

Our Gas Conversion Specialist owns the gas-appliance side of our business. Eleven years of combined hearth-product and fuel-gas work, with deep familiarity across every major brand sold in our markets — Empire, RH Peterson Real Fyre, Heatmaster, Monessen, Majestic, and the IHP / Astria lines. Performs combustion analysis with calibrated instrumentation on every gas-appliance install, not just a visual flame check. Holds NFI Gas Specialist certification, which is the recognized credential for hearth-product gas work nationwide.

Inspection Lead (Level II)

Experience: 17 years  |  Specialty: NFPA 211 Level II video inspections, real-estate transaction reports, insurance-claim documentation  |  Credentials: CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, Certified Master Inspector (CMI), F.I.R.E. Service Technician

Our Inspection Lead handles every real-estate transaction inspection, every post-event insurance evaluation, and every Level II video-scan request. Seventeen years of inspection-focused work means he can read a flue liner the way an experienced cardiologist reads an EKG — quickly, precisely, and without missing the small anomalies that matter. Produces the detailed photo-and-video inspection reports we send to homeowners, real-estate agents, and insurance adjusters. If a report from us is sitting on a transaction file, it is engineered to survive scrutiny.

Venting & Liner Specialist

Experience: 9 years  |  Specialty: Stainless-steel liner installation, factory-built venting, code-compliant terminations  |  Credentials: CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, NFI Woodburning Specialist, manufacturer-certified on Heatilator and Majestic venting systems

Our Venting & Liner Specialist handles every relining job and every factory-built venting repair we accept. Nine years of focused liner work — UL 1777 listed stainless systems, smooth-wall vs. corrugated, insulated vs. uninsulated, full reline vs. localized repair. Also our go-to for factory-built fireplace venting where the original manufacturer is no longer in business, which requires careful sourcing of compatible code-listed components. Manufacturer-certified by Heatilator and Majestic, the two largest factory-built venting suppliers in our markets.

Field Supervisor & Quality-Control Lead

Experience: 19 years  |  Specialty: Multi-crew dispatch, callback resolution, technician training, customer-experience oversight  |  Credentials: CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, NCSG member, OSHA-30, internal trainer of record

Our Field Supervisor is the person responsible for the consistency of every job we perform. Nineteen years of chimney-and-fireplace experience, with the last six years split between active service and supervisory work. Reviews every inspection report and every estimate before it leaves our office. Personally rides along with newer technicians for their first 90 days. If a customer is unhappy with any aspect of a service call, this is the person who calls them, makes it right, and documents the lesson so the same issue does not happen twice.

How We Match the Right Technician to Your Job

When you call Texas Chimney Experts, the first thing our office does is match the work you need to the role that handles it. A standard annual sweep and inspection goes to our CSIA Sweep Lead’s schedule. A gas-log conversion goes to our Gas Conversion Specialist. A real-estate transaction inspection goes to our Inspection Lead. A full rebuild or major masonry repair goes to our Senior Master Mason. This sounds obvious but most chimney companies dispatch on availability rather than fit — which is how a homeowner ends up with a generalist trying to diagnose a gas-pressure issue, or a sweep trying to evaluate a structural masonry problem. We do not work that way.

Background, Identity, and Insurance

Every technician we dispatch carries a Texas Chimney Experts ID, drives a Texas Chimney Experts-branded vehicle, and is covered by our workers’ compensation, general liability, and commercial auto policies. We can email or text you a photo of your assigned technician before the appointment if you would like to confirm identity at the door — just call our office at (214) 444-8103 and ask.
